A very special unicorn wish.

I had such a great birthday yesterday. Today I was feeling sort of bummed out that it had to end. But then I remembered that I still get birthday pizza on Saturday and Sunday, too. Whee.
So I'm confused. I volunteered to co-plan this engagement party for Heather and Matt. Other Heather and I have been delving into invitations, guest lists, decorations, menues and such. Then I thought, whoa. Who's paying for all of this? Well, according to the office expert on party etiquette, the planning team pays. But she also said that we can plan creatively and ask people to bring bottles of wine, appetizers and such. Phew. I'm not exactly in the financial position to throw someone a huge expensive party.

It's my birthday, too!

It's also Chelsea Clinton, Elizabeth Taylor, John Steinbeck and Ralph Nader's Birthday. So far it's been fun. I got fun presents, they brought me doughnuts, cards and really expensive balsamic vinegar. For lunch we went for pizza, sponsored by WEA, thank you Billy! Then Carol took us off-roading by the levee on the port of Sacramento. We kicked up some dust, saw some massive rice boats from Panama and the big wood chipper that makes huge piles of saw dust. Then I found out that tonight's full moon will be the widest ever, or something. I've been listening to Your Birthday by the Beatles since I got back. Over, and over. Ber-ner-ner-ner-ner!
Tonight Leon is taking me to dinner. At first I wanted Cafe Bernardo, then I changed my mind to Tapas. Now I want Tower Cafe. So, 25 is the big-deal age of youth. Thus far I don't feel any different. But it's got to be all downhill from here.
Ber-ner-ner-ner-ner-ner-na-ner!

Generally.

I am generally:
Tired.
Too busy.
25, more or less.
Not taking lunch breaks.
Underpaid.
Underappreciated.
Not doing very good at quitting caffine.
Needing a vacation.
Bummed out on not being in school.
Slacking on updating this with any real content.

Busy Signals.

Yes, I'm not dead. Just busy. Work has been non-stop. I eat at my desk, my telephone is sewed to my ear and my fingers are glued to this keyboard. I come home half dead and go to sleep at incredibly reasonable hours. Something has to give.

I've been sort of down about band stuff since last practice. I was feeling right lame for not knowing the songs well, so I kind of gave up. Last week I just sat on a milk crate all practice. I just kind of thought that since I wasn't any good, that they would just replace me anyway, so why bother? So Leon and I had a talk. He told me that they really wanted me in the band, but I just had to practice and work at it if I wanted to know the songs. So I did, now I feel a little better, but not 100%. I feel good enough to practice tonight and not look pouty. I'm just not that good at music and everyone else in the band is. I wasn't meant to be in a band.
So we have a show lined up for April. Maybe if I have a deadline, I'll feel more motivated to get better.

I'm listening to "Hey Jude" right now. I wish Paul McCartney wouldn't just scream like that. It kind of creeps me out.
