Maybe next year

Okay, so realistically, we can't afford to get a dog right now. At least, not the one that I want. But maybe next year we can revisit this again. Until then, I'll be whining, weeping and pining everytime I see a cute puppy.

In other news, we are getting ready to move. Packing all our stuff, we realized that we have so much crap. So much. A yard sale or a massive music sale is in order.

Dogs, again.

This weekend we're going to see a whippet breeder. We're going to meet and talk with the breeders to see if a whippet is right for us. And if the stars are aligned, maybe we'll end up with one later this year. The thing is, is that I already know that a whippet is right for me, but Leon doesn't know if it's right for him. His dog vision is a rough and tumble, extreme hiking dog. Mine is a wimpy dog that I can baby and still take on hikes. Isn't hiking just taking a walk outside anyway? I can't remember, of the last 5 times I've gone hiking, rolling down hills, climbing rocks or scaling mountains. Definitely nothing a little whippet in boots can't handle.

zzzz.

I am so tired. So. Tired.

Band practice went a little late last night. We have a lot of work to do before we go on tour. I have to learn a bunch of covers, which is easy, I just need someone to give me the chords. Tour. I'm so excited about going, but so stressed out about money. I am trying to save a little dough to pay back my plane ticket, as well as some money for food and hello....H&M shopping spree.

I lack that gene.

My friend makes art. When a tiny figurine fell and busted into a jillion pieces, she collected them and made a tragic diorama out of it. I just thought that was so clever. Something like that would not occur to me because I lack that gene or whatever part of a person that takes the lemons and makes tragic lemonade dioramas.

I can think of one time that my roomate's dog somehow chewed the eyes out of a toy mouse of my cat's. The end product was a hollow, matted mass of fur. I put it on the fridge just because it looked so creepy.

Top 5 Weekend Times

In no particular order, five things I enjoyed about my weekend:

Finishing the new David Sedaris collection, "Dress Your Family In Corduroy And Denim"
Seeing Becky
Laying in the grass all afternoon in the park instead of playing kickball
Fox and Goose breakfast
Taking a walk at night

Doctor's Orders

I went out last night. In clear violation of my doctor's orders. I was told yesterday by Dr. Pan to not "go out and party" if I want to get better faster. I have an ear infection and a minor sinus infection, that like to stay home and watch true crime shows on TV. Against my better judgement, we went out to the Flame Club at around 10. I had a cranberry soda (looks like a vodka cranberry, doesn't it?), shot the shit for about an hour and a half then went home with a bad case of medicine stomach. I hate that feeling. Sometimes when I take certain anti-biotics, I later get this really hollow feeling in my stomach, like hunger pangs. I scarfed down some cheese and pita chips, filled in a couple of crossword clues, then fell asleep.

Tonight is Frenchmen practice. Does that count as going out and partying?

ALTRI

We are this close to being home owners []. Just 30 days until the close of escrow and we'll be eating ramen for a couple of years.
No, really, it's a great feeling. We went to visit it yesterday and ran about like little kids saying, "we could put this there, and we could use this room for that!" Now we have so much planning to do with the packing and cleaning of our apartment. We have to have it all done before we go on tour in July. And our thirty day notice! Oh my gosh. We totally have to put that in when we get the keys.

Our new neighborhood association is Alhambra Triangle. Just trying to figure out how that would look on a neighborhoodie.

I'm not a grown up. I just play one on TV.

The house hunting has begun. We spent a couple of hours yesterday looking at some homes for sale. Most of them were stinkers or just in terrible locations. Getting ready for the road of heartbreak and disappointment that ultimately leads to the dreamhouse (hopefully), or the "this might do" house (more likely).

Could I be on my favorite show, House Hunters?
