Last night I watched the VMAs and wholeheartedly rooted for 50 cent.

1. Broadcast "Ha Ha Sound" - OK, so they are sounding more and more Sterolab-y. But let's face it, will Stereolab make any more new music without Mary Hansen? Maybe, but I'm not saving myself until they do. I'm cheating on them with Broadcast and not afraid to admit it.

2. Belle & Sebastian "Dear Catastrophy Waitress" - Hey, who put Big Star in my Belle & Sebastian? At first I really didn't like the new songs because they were different, but now I love them because they ARE so different...from their last record anyway. If the last track doesn't sound so Ashes To Ashes Bowie, I don't know what does. Great live show at the Greek Theater. Cool, but not too cool, perfect outdoor concert weather. Terrible parking. I missed the after party of the century.

3. Crackernuts. Adobo tastes just like barbeque, so don't buy both flavors.

4. River Dawgs last Saturday. The best tribute to early Rock The Light I've ever seen and there are a lot of RTL tribute bands out there. Like Led Zep, The Stones, etc.

5. Aguas frescas at La Favorita. Melon (cantelope) was just perfect.

What what and the Thing thing

Who has the new Belle & Sebastian CD? I do, and I like it. It's very different from their previous record. How do you say? They busted out. Yes!

Take a deep breath.

Everything is okay with my dress. Now I'm trying to tackle the issue of invitations. I know exactly what I want (well, I have two clear design ideas) and they do not exist on line. What if I'm not a froo-froo bride?

Keep on being nice to me.

Picky co-worker: How's your wedding dress shopping going?

Teeni: Fine. I went to House of Fashion, but everything I really liked was thousands of dollars. I only want to spend $600. So I'm going to David's Bridal on Saturday.

Picky: Ew. Aren't they corny?

Teeni: Yeah, probably, but it doesn't hurt to look.

I totally found THE wedding dress at David's Bridal this weekend. It fit way better and was way prettier than anything I tried on at HOF. Not to mention it was half the price I was planning to spend. Yeah!

But now I'm freaking out. The consultant that sold me my dress was pressuring me to order the dress I wanted this weekend. Apparently the line it was from wasn't doing well (obviously because all of the poofy, beaded, lacy dress-loving girls who buy their dresses at David's Bridal, have no taste at all) and they were going to discontinue it soon. On one hand I believed her because a friend of mine had a nightmare with bridesmaid dresses there. She tried to order them early, but they told her to wait until a month or two later. By then when she tried to order them exactly when they told her to, they were "discontinued." I expressed this concern to the consultant and she assured me that I would get my dress. I am still, however, freaking out about it. Would I be bridezilla if I called the shop to double check that they're going to be able to order this dress for me?

Be nice to me.

Yesterday I gave blood, so be nice to me. Then I had class and then I went to see Leon's show after that. I was feeling pretty bloodless and was in no mood to sit through 4 bands that play too-long songs on a weeknight. But Leon was playing and I like his band, even though they should really change their name to something cooler like oh, I don't know. THE AWESOME TALL DUDES?! So anyway. I barely stay on my feet after watching a sensitive solo project and decide to just roll with it and get a beer. Beer? Now Teeni, you really shouldn't drink after you give blood or you'll get druuuunk. So I chose to have a hefewizen. Because that has vitamins in it right? It was the most foody beer there, so what could it hurt? Drank that, watched Leon's band and then the other band....Wolf Colonel started. Just as I expected, as a K band would. The performance was just too confrontational. They did a long intro, introductions with the AUDIENCE, sing alongs, covers and tons of long emo songs in the style of Mirah and Kaela. I was growing wearier by the minute, but I had to stay you know, because the singer knew my name. I got the hell out of there as soon as they were over. I am so sick of these K bands that are so full of themselves. I'm the type of person who enjoys a nice show with short songs (especially at 11PM on a WEEKNIGHT and no commitment to react to the band the way thay want me to.

That's just me.

I won't say it.

I could have said that I told you so, and maybe I just did. I am no visionary, but I do have a little knowledge about certain matters and oh gee....I happen to do something relavent to this matter for a living. A mistake was made, a lesson was learned too late and here we sit on top of a bunch of turkeys.

But I won't say it.

You know, I told you so.

How did this happen.

So I did the radio show and it was fun. But still, it makes me nervous. The responsibility is overwhelming and it makes my hands and voice shake. They let me play any songs I want to for 2 hours? Yes they do, and people listen to it.

Uggh, I don't want to think about it. Please pass the funions. I've had enough responsibility-ions.

Tonight.

Every once and a while, me and Leon fill in at KDVS. Tonight we
bring you another addition of "Hey I'm On The Radio." Listen in from
8pm - 10pm tonight...while you get all fancied up for someone's party,
or while you polish off a whole bottle of Charles Shaw merlot, laying
on the couch watching CSI Miami telling yourself you really should go
out, but can't because you've been feeling borderline agoraphobic.

We're playing all kinds of stuff:
Quasi, Razorcuts, Broadcast, Pastels, Aisler's Set, Radio Dept. and
we're taking requests. But no Frenchmen requests. Seriously, I know
you want it, but regulations bar me from playing my own band. You'll
have to just go down to Tone Vendor and buy it today because they
finally have our 7" in stock.

And if you are too busy to hear my tiny, feeble radio voice shredding
on your eardrums live-style, you can always download the show after
it airs at http://www.kdvs.org/ and skip over all the air breaks.

Teeni.

I forgot

Whatever I was going to write here, is long gone and forgotten. In the bathroom stall at work, I thought to myself, "that's brilliant!" But I think I flushed that idea.

Now I'm back to nothing new.

Oh, Baby.

Teeni: Sometimes you see a baby and you’re like, “Man, that sure is a baby.”

Pep: hehe

Teeni: And that’s all you can say about it.

Pep: it’s all summed up in that one sentence

Teeni: What was that one Seinfeld episode? “Breathtaking.”

Planning.

It's starting to get where I'm feeling overwhelmed with the ammount of planning we have to do for this wedding. We have 8 months to:

-get a caterer
-get a florist
-get a photographer
-get a cake
-get a dress
-get Leon's ring
-get Leon's tux
-get somebody to marry us
-get a dj
-regster (that's the fun part!)

O woe is me. I need some help!

Need a new game.

My rap song karaoke repetoire is old and needs changing. I've been researching new songs....the challenge is finding out if the DJ has the freakin' song I want.

Squares.

Wishing I was.

Yesterday I was sitting here typing at work. Doing research on this or that. I found myself daydreaming about New York City. In my daydream, I'm getting off work, here in my same office. But when I walk outside its different. It's midtown Manhattan. I see a subway entrance and walk down the steps. My my my metro card lets me through the turnstile and I can instantly smell and feel the heat from the oily subway tunnels. I get on a train that takes me closer to where I need to go. Rocking up the tracks I get off somewhere uptown. I emerge from underground and walk up some street, passing the tiny markets, eyeing fresh fruits and flowers in season. I get an idea for dinner and stop into Zabar's where I load a basket full of ingredients. Then I snap out of it, and I'm here in West Sacramento again. I hop in my boring Echo and drive to the library in midtown Sacramento, pick up the next book club selection, head home to my tiny apartment where my boyfriend is playing with his new iPod and one of the cats is crying for fresh water because the other one put food in it. We eat leftovers for dinner, both fall asleep on the couch and both miss our alarm in the morning.

Back to normal.

Now that I'm back to my life, things are settling down slowly and I can write about mundane things.

Take the nightmare I had last night:
I dreamed that I was a serial strangler. I had just comitted my latest multiple strangling and I turned myself in to the authorities. While waiting to be hauled in to jail a bystander asked me what prison was like. I replied with this: "It's like a really bad camp." Then I felt immense regret and I was taken to the prison. I woke up before anything else happened.
