At rest

A rare moment of stillness from Sacramento's most wound-up dog. Poor Riblet hasn't been able to hit the dog park lately because her parents are d-e-a-d-b-e-a-t-s. Well, mostly her parents are just exhausted from working so hard to support her one-a-day plush toy habit. Man, this dog is mad for the squeaker and will rip anything apart just to get at it!

In attempt to forget about my worries and get absorbed in someone elses for a change, I'm really trying to get out and catch Miranda July's feature film at the Tower. Uh, I hope someone will let me in. It looks like it might lack the Northwest lecture flavor, which in case you didn't know, I'm violently allergic to. Plus, it's Miranda July! Maker of such hits as: F-F-F-F-F-ATE! and the namesake of this blog.

Hot enough to boil a dog's brain.

The heat is back dudes! In case you haven't heard, heat is HOTT right now. Sweltering 100+ days, frosty cold brews...it's Sacramento Summertime.

If Sacramento could talk it would say: "Seriously guys, don't act all surprised or anything. It's July and in this town it gets hot. So I would appreciate it if you would just lay off the whole cursing the weather thing because I can't do a damn thing about it without my flaky friend The Delta Breeze. Dude! Where has she been? She left a few days ago to go get a pack of smokes and she doesn't come back? WTF?"

Sacramento's most blogged dog.

Heylove, the riblet went on her first camping trip this weekend. She fared like a champ, despite some mosquito bites and an allergic reaction to something-or-rather. However, no deep woods hiking for this little niblet. Too scared that bears would want to take a bite. The nature was straight off a postcard, gorgeous in an alpine-lakey kind of way. We got home and I took the greatest shower of my life.

I thought of a mess of things to bring on the next camping trip:
Salt & pepper
Firewood
Something to poke a fire with
Playing cards
Benedryl
Some way to make coffee or tea
More eating utensils
Hat
Long socks
Trashy reading
Backpack

Back to life. To ease the burden, we're starting off a new tradition. ZELDA'S PIZZA MONDAYS!!!

Cats vs. The Mice

We've had a couple of mice sightings in the house lately.

The scene of the crime. I came home at 1PM to find this: A kitchen tile completely removed, mouse blood, some ambiguous mouse innard and more mouse blood.

Cats investigates. She turned to me and said "who could have possibly left this mess for mommy to clean up?"

The ambiguous innard. An intestiny thing? A bladdery thing?

The signs of struggle. Is the mouse still in there?

6PM: Finally, a body. This wasn't there at 1PM.

O' the humanity. The mouse that scurried to heaven.

So small, so quiet.

Who is the culprit? Is it this Cats?

Or is it this Cats?

Nothing but the Riblet

Not much going on except major work and more work dude! Seriously, this is killing me. Let's find a way to let me be a stay at home dog mom. I could monitor her hiney hives and broken nails all day, and I could finally teach her to color and draw pictures for daddy. So I'm all vacationed, but I'm ready for another. Camping this weekend with Leon and the Riblet should be loads of fun. OMG. Who is going to feed the cats? Do the cats need to be fed? Hell, I don't know. I guess they could just eat the mice that have been crawling around in the cabinets. I know, major gross. But the cats are such pussies (sorry, it's true!), that they'd much rather chase the mice than eat them. WTF? Cats are so lazy. If I die, I'd like to come back as cats owned by me. Wait, that just blew my mind. Speaking of cats, our neighbor (Debbie?) just got a new cats that loves me. I think her name is Tiny Twitcher and she's the most adorable mini black calico that I've ever seen. You can kind of tell that she comes from the streets because she's sweet, but pretty skittish. I bet she knows all about catching mice.

Catching up.

So busy at work. Here's a photo of my trip to San Juan Island, and more here at my flickr.
