Since Wednesday.

Since Wednesday, I've been in a state of utter content. With playing a show in front of people finally out of the way, I feel like the worst is over. The next shows, and maybe even the recordings will be fun and non-nerve wracking. People liked us, I'd like to think. even though most of them were our friends and we asked them to be there. They said they liked us anyway. And maybe they couldn't tell that we messed up a few times. Some other highlights:
We played the new song fairly well, despite only practicing it twice.
Someone yelled "Frenchmen fucking rule!" after we played.
Dancing music so nice that even Charles danced.
Free beers.
John's karaoke.
Ordering in spanish at the burrito place at 3 in the morning, because I get a kick out of that.
Falling asleep, crammed on the couch with Leon couldn't have been cozier.
The view from Fulton down accross the panhandle at 10 am and my new contacts for being able to see it.
Being in the bay area in the day time on a weekday made me feel naughty, like I was playing hooky.
Yum falafel lunch.
Sleepy afternoon drive back to Sacramento.
I think I like this band thing much better than having a radio show.
Later.

Oh, there you are.

I called my eye doctor and made a fuss about their prices on contacts, so they lowered the price to 50% off. I felt bad so I brought them a big box of dance cds. Art, who was very sweet and totally helpful was very appreciative and gave me 4 free boxes of contact lens juice. "We love dance music here! Anything that gets us bumpin'." I had a bunch of dance promos here so it worked out for everyone. Now I can see more clearly than ever. The best way for me to explain it is this: It's like being a movie camera. I can focus on the tiny leaves in trees, the license plates on the cars downstairs, the people crossing the street several blocks down. It's the best feeling and the worst. It's terrible because it makes me realize just how bad my eyesight has deteriorated to. If you knew how blind I really am, you'd be apalled.
How do you do it Teeni?
Nobody knows, baby.

Burny Eye.

My contacts are terrible to begin with. The perscription is at least two years old and so are the contacts themselves. I wouldn't even call them contacts anymore. They're more like blury sheets of gum that go on my eyeballs and help me see things past arm's length but not much farther beyond.
So last night I was chopping jalepenos for some salsa I'm brewing for a potluck tomorrow. The juice and smell got all over my fingers. So I washed my hands a few times with one of those stainless steel bars of "soap." I knew it wasn't working too well, so I had Leon remove my contacts for me for the night. I thought my fingers would be much better in the morning, after another bout with the stainless steel soap and a shower. I found out the burny eye, hard way that it didn't work. Now my most important contact is ruined, the right one. That's the eye that's the worst! I'm having to wear my left contact and glasses today, just to see well enough to drive. Uggh, now I have to go all the way out to Arden for my eye doctor.
I'm practically blind!!
