WILDING OUT!

WILDING OUT!
Originally uploaded by riblet.

Aww. Our tiny dancer. We took Ira on an errand to the Beat last night. Leon let him stand on the counter while we were talking to the shop clerk. Immediately, he starts dancing to the music playing on the overhead system. So sweet! We inquired about a mini cage dancer position for him at the store. Sigh. They're not hiring.

Ugh. I don't know what happened. Last week Ira was going to bed at 8PM. He was going down with out a fuss and sleeping until at least midnight. This week, he's crazy. Since Friday he's been up until late hours, waking several times during the night and rising early in the morning when Leon leaves for work. One book I have says that babies schedules are totally disrupted when they are mastering a new skill. If that's the case, maybe Ira will start standing soon. All I know is that I'm wiped!

How we spend our summer

Baby pool

Yes, my baby is wearing Speedos! Why do you care? Do you want to fight? Come on!

Uh, sorry. I tend to get a little chiplet on my shoulder sometimes. It's hormones. Really, I'm ok. You're ok...

This summer has been plenty busy. We've hit the baby pool scene with a big splash. Ira is so about wading in the water. He can't get enough. Even the form-fitting baby Speedos won't stop him. The kid knows what he wants: milk, Heylove's whiskers, avocado, baby pools, rides on dad's shoulders and remote controls. In that order.

Most days we get up at 7:30. I put Ira in his crib to play (because by this time, he's been in bed with me since Leon left for work), I make myself some breakfast and coffee. Then I get him in the high chair for his breakfast. Usually he eats some combination of porridge and fruit. Sometimes yogurt is in there, sometimes not. After that it's clean up time and we both comb our hair, get dressed, that sort of thing. Then it's Ira's nap time...or not. The rest of the day goes pretty much like this: crawling time, co-op, post office, baby nap, my chores, a little Wii for me, our lunch, more chores, reading baby books (Pat the Bunny is a real page turner), crawling time, maybe some kind of mom's/play group thing (with or without baby pools), more crawling time and then we count the minutes until Leon comes home. That's us. See how blogging doesn't really fit in there? Such a bummer.

Neon family portrait

Neon family portriat

Mang, I haven't blogged in a while. I have no idea where to start catching up. Baby Neon is going nuts scampering around the house. I have to constantly trail him to make sure he doesn't get into danger. My parenting these days boils down to straight suicide watch for this wee little bairn.

Well it's August and I'm stoked because so many delicious things are in season. I used to think that spring time was the best. Maybe it is elsewhere, but I think Sacramento's agricultural bounty hits it's peak here in late summer. I've been holding out for awesome tomatoes and they're finally here! Luckily my elderly neighbor has been passing some really ripe beauties over the fence. Saturday night I made a refreshing gazpacho with them. Sunday, Leon made us tomato and basil sandwiches. We've been hitting the farmers market pretty regularly and loading up on cantaloupes, basil and peaches (Bavarian pretzels, too). I've been picking up potatoes from the potato guy, as well. I know potatoes don't scream summer, but for some reason we are on a mashed potato kick and the potato guy lets me practice my Spanish with him.

What else? So we had our portraits taken last weekend. RC came out to our place with her crew and they took some professional style photos of us, except it's RC, so she kept it casual for us. We've been friends for almost 20 years now. Wow! I'm old. This is the part where you tell me that I look so young.
