Recovering from bad food

Ma Jong's was so terrible yesterday that my stomach still feels a little janky. I ordered tofu and vegetables in garlic black bean sauce. First, the tofu had some kind of skin on it that could only be described as jelly-like. Then, the garlic black bean sauce didn't taste like garlic or black bean sauce. It was more like cornstarch and water with beany-bits in it. Kind of gummy, too.

So Howl-o-ween was Heylove's first birthday.

She got dressed up.

And ate dog cake. There is so much dog cake left!
Literary hoax?

This is probably old news, but I just got my issue of New York yesterday. Is JT LeRoy a hoax? I don't know, but if s/he is, it's a good one. This article seems to point all fingers to Laura Albert. I've already read Sarah and just tried to put The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things on hold at the library, but I have fines and it won't let me hold anything. Boo.

GROSS
I think I just ordered the grossest thing at Ma Jong's. It didn't even taste good and it so wasn't worth it. You only have to be half scared, I ordered tofu, but it was mostly sauce that was gross.

I feel so sick right now, I can't even type anymore. Uggh.
Food and food.

All this talk about pizza at Heckasac had me ordering up the Trifecta (musrooms, olives, garlic) at Zelda's last night for take out. I told Leon that when wifey dies that he should ask Zelda's to name this pizza after me in my honor. Either officially call it the Trifecta, or maybe call it The Niki Ortiz Levy Memorial Trifecta Pizza Pie. Can't decide which sounds better. So we filled up on pizza, Dan made us pumpkin seeds (BAM! from Emeril's recipe), Leon made a really good Meatwad jack-o-lantern, Doglet ate birthday cake in her bee costume and after all that, we only got two trick-or-treaters. They were good sets of kids, much better than last year's set when we got one kid and then one lone, older lady who I swear was casing our house "Boy, it looks real nice in there! Open up, lemme see! Oh, I'm just getting candy for her baby at home." Might add pictures to this later.

Today, I'm going over to Ma Jong's Asian Diner for lunch. I may or may not report on the first impression.
