But please, who wouldn't want to try and sneak this dog a scrap or two?

The results are in

It's a boy 8=> ! We found out early. I mistakenly wrote my ultrasound appointment down as the 20th, but it was really the 12th. Luckily Leon noticed on our kitchen calendar, so I called to confirm. Yay! We would have been stoked either way, boy or girl. We have not decided on a name yet and are not looking for suggestions. It's too early!

The ultrasound tech made a little arrow on the screen and typed "little boy parts" to break the news to us. I guess if you believe the old wives's tale about how a lady carries her pregnancy weight (in the front for boys, all over for girls), then I guess it is pretty true in my case. From the back, I feel like you can't tell I'm pregnant at all.

It was a pretty nice weekend. Dan & Heather were visiting so we hung out a lot and threw a bbq. Fun times. Now we just need to plan our trip to FL. I'd like to go before I have the kid, but who knows if I'll be up for travel by the time I can actually take the time off?

18 weeks

I feel like I really rounded out in size this week. Anyway, it's the 18th week, which is 5 months. In two more weeks I'll be officially half way through. Doesn't really make sense, right? 5.5 months = half of 9 months? I know, but you measure the weeks in human gestation. It's supposed to be 40 weeks give or take days for late or early streeting babies. Between 30 and 31 day months it works out to be about 9 calendar months.

Here's a flickr stroll through other people at 18 weeks.

I listened to the soundtrack to the Sarah Silverman movie "Jesus is Magic" yesterday. More on that later because blogger is being pretty fussy today.

Not much, you?

I don't have much today. A bad news bomb went off en la oficina; I'm still recovering. Instead of complaining about that or how much ligament pain I'm in every time I take a step, I'll take a minute to look forward to this weekend.

Hooray:
Dan & Heather are coming to visit this weekend. Saturday will be a fun bbq at our place. I think I invited everyone that really wanted to see them, but in case someone's reading this wants to see them too, email me. Outside of the bbq, I don't know what else they plan to do. I'm taking Friday and Monday off because I need a break.

Today the fetus is being pretty active. I feel like I've got a sea creature wiggling around in my abdomen.

Tonight I am babysitting my 7 year old niece. She's funny, but a handfull. Most likely I'll be pleaing with her all night to please calm down and use an inside voice. Choice quotes from said niece:

"I like your soap! My hands smell like a daydream!"
"Can I get some ice up in my water?"
"LUDA!" when asked who is better, Nelly or Ludacris?
"I'm a diva."
"Ooh girl, I like your shoes."
